Café Arhuacos

We import coffee beans directly from indigenous communities in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta – from the sacred place Nabusimake, which in the Iku language means “where the sun was born.” The Arhuacos have been displaced from their land for centuries. We want them to be able to return to it: in 2020, from sales proceeds, we helped purchase 20 hectares of land in the Birwa area, where the community grows coffee, avocados, and bananas itself – without fear of further displacement.
